Your first visit is an evaluation, which is the start of your plan of care which will establish your next visits.
Therapeutic exercise is used to work large groups of muscles. These exercises can range from walking on a treadmill to lifting weights.
We also use gait training to helpimprove standing and walking ability. If a patient has a limp, or a leg injury, gait training can be used to correct the abnormality.
Other services we offer at Big Horn Hospital Rehab Center is Dry Needling. This is used to reduce pain, inactivate trigger points, and to restore function.
Our Physical Therapy department works with kids to help with genetic, neurological, and orthopedic disorders.
BHHA Rehab Center also offers post-operative care, prosthetics, and much more to assist the needs of the patients of Big Horn County and surrounding areas.
Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapist works with people who need help with their everyday living activities, such as using a stove, reaching for items, getting dressed, etc. This is also known as ADL training or Activities of Daily Living.
Another service associated with our Occupational Therapy program is wheelchair management. Our Occupational Therapist works with an outside company to help assist patients with acquiring and fitting a wheel chair, based on their needs.
Our Occupational Therapy program specializes in hand therapy, which helps patients with serious injuries or stroke patients.
Women’s health is another service we offer. Some common examples of areas are: urge incontinence, nighttime leaking, bowel incontinence, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic health, and prenatal /postnatal health.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy can help people who have difficulty speaking to communicate better and to break down the barriers that result from speech impediments. The goals of speech therapy include improving pronunciation, strengthening the muscles used in speech, and learning to speak correctly.
Speech therapy can help you improve your: Early language skills (especially children learning to talk and communicate). Ability to use your voice. Language comprehension (how well you understand words and language).
Speech issues range from general communication to voice, language, and swallowing. Speech therapists can help patients improve their ability to communicate and help them with tongue and throat disorders. A speech therapist can treat babies, children, and adults.
